The verdict of 10 people in the murder case of prime minister Sheikh Hasina in the case





A court in Dhaka has ordered the execution of 10 people in a case filed over attempt to kill Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in Kotalipara, Gopalganj 17 years ago. 

In the same case nine people have been given jail terms for different periods under the provisions of the Explosive Substances Act.
Judge of Dhaka Speedy Trial Tribunal-2 Momtaz Begum announced the verdict on Sunday.


Among the other accused in the case, Harkatul Jihad leader Mufti Abdul Hannan was executed in another case. That is why his name was dropped from the case.


On the 20th of July 2000, beside a school in Kotalipara, 76 kg weighing bombs were found on the ground during construction of the stage for Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's speech. The next day, another 80 kilograms of bombs were recovered from helipad in Kotalipara.


After one day, Sheikh Hasina was scheduled to address a public rally in the college grounds of her constituency, Dada.
In this incident, police of Kotalipara Police filed a lawsuit and tried the case under the Explosive Substances Act.


After the investigation, on April 8, 2001, the charge-sheet of the crime branch (CID) gave the chargesheet against ten people, including the leader of Harkat-ul-Jihad leader Mufti Abdul Hannan, on April 8, 2001.


In 2010, the case was sent to the Speedy Trial Tribunal of Dhaka from Gopalganj Court.
